Frequently Asked Questions

Here are a few useful things to know to enhance your learning and practice of Yoga:

·       Wear comfortable or exercise clothing that you can move around in easily

·       Mats and props are provided but you are welcome to bring your own if you would prefer. A water bottle may be useful.

·       Eat at least 2 hours prior to class or attend on an empty stomach. If this is not possible a snack is fine an hour before class.

·       No experience for beginner classes is necessary and you do not need to be flexible. All modifications of poses can be offered so you do what is right for you. This is the beauty of a smaller class!

·       Make sure your phone is stored away and either off/ silent mode so as not to disturb yourself or other students.

·       It is best to practice in bare feet on the mat and remove socks to avoid slipping.

·       Ensure you arrive in good time prior to the start of class to avoid disturbing others and so you can get the best out of the class - this is your time!

·       If you have any new medical concerns inform the teacher before class as some poses may be unsuitable but alternatives can normally be offered.

·       Yoga is not competitive and to get the best out of the practice you are encouraged to listen to your body and what feels right for you - don’t worry about what the person next to you is doing.

·       Be kind to yourself! It is perfectly OK to come out of a pose before the teacher says so, yoga should not hurt. Resting poses will be offered so you can always go back to those at any time.

Lastly I hope you feel better after class I have never regretted a class - the struggle is usually to get to the mat and sometimes when we are lacking in motivation or energy this is when we most need it!
